ABOUT OUR COMPANY

Allied Waste Corporate Profile
Allied Waste of Murfreesboro is proud of our rich, vibrant, 40 plus-year local history of keeping middle Tennessee clean.

We have now been know by many different names, but regardless of how you know us, we are committed to serving you well.

Our local story began in 1961 under the operations of American Sanitary and Disposal Company, with the vision of always exceeding customer expectations. As American Sanitary continued to grow, they decided to team with Browning Ferris Industries (BFI) in the fall of 1971.

BFI was formed in 1966 in Houston, TX with one truck and the same vision. The two companies were a perfect fit. BFI was one of the earliest companies to experiment with the recycling of paper waste, using its own collection supply that could then be treated, shredded and delivered to papermakers. BFI grew to become the second largest waste services company in the U.S. by acquiring other companies, leveraging economies of scale, and provide the best service at the best value.

In 1999 Allied Waste Industries, Inc. purchased BFI and in 2008, Allied merged with Republic Services, Inc. Republic Services is a leading provider of solid waste collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services. Our local divisions operate under a variety of names. But, regardless of the name, our purpose is the same—to be a company where the best people come to work, devoted to meeting the needs of our customers every day.

Allied Waste of Murfreesboro is committed to providing excellent service to all our customers. We have been serving our communities with local pride and ingenuity for decades. Regardless of our size, we are and always will be a local business. Numerous members of our management team are former owners and second/third-generation waste and recycling industry professionals. We are your neighbors, friends and family. The Allied Waste of Murfreesboro team members know our business and our communities and we are proud of the service we provide. We are committed to exemplary customer service and efficient, innovative solutions that respect and safeguard Tennessee’s public health and natural resources. We help our team succeed by providing company-wide resources, including technical support, best practices, safety training and direction in regulated areas.

Allied owns and operates its own state-of-the-art disposal facility. Middle Point Landfill, in Rutherford County, meets and exceeds all subtitle D regulations for proper solid waste management. Middle Point has never been cited for any major environmental violation, ensuring that Allied customers can feel good about their contribution to the environment.
